about

Earth Day 2021

This song has many influences; the reggae of Jimmy Cliff & Burning Spear, Dominican Rara, the Gayatri Mantra, an Amazonian medicine song which is a favourite of my friend Don, Motown, Sun Ra, Mr. Rogers, the mournful simplicity of Woody Guthrie, a beautiful song by Arthur Russell... All this and more can be found here.

It is the product of group effort, first played with Prince Enoki’s Insect Orchestra around 2010, and recorded over several sessions with a myriad of engineers at my friend Lenny’s studio. There are 14 names credited above. Behind each of these names there is a story, and many, many more names, each one originating from an act of love, stretching back and forward in time and space. I’ve traveled far, and I’ve journeyed wide. Love is Everywhere.

From April 22 - May 25, 2021 all proceeds will go to Black Lives Matter Toronto

lyrics

Every grain of sand
All the stars in the sky
Snowflakes
Our distant galaxies

Sun moon & stars
Our heavenly bodies
Just imagine
What brings us together

It's in the earth
It's in the sky
Way down low
Far up high

I've travelled far
I've journeyed wide
Love is everywhere

From the mountains
Across the plains
Through the sky
I've searched far & wide

Found it in the east
Found it in the west
It's in the songs of birds
Every sweet sunset

Out in the forest
Down in the sea
Inside of you
Inside of me
All of the day
All through the night
Love is everywhere

Every precious seed
Yearns to grow & grow
Love I'm so glad I found you
And I'll never let you go

It's in the earth
It's in the sky
Way down low
Far up high

I've travelled far
I've journeyed wide
Love is everywhere
