about

Glamis Green was written by Barry W. Mason II, my pal from Calgary. He was in Toronto and we had a chance to record together. It was great getting to know his music and spending time hanging out.

Here's what Barry says about the song:

When I was a kid, I lived on a street called Glamis Green. I had a best friend named Zack, who I either hung out with or chatted on the phone with every single day. He passed away a couple years back and I miss him every day. He was a truly creative person and he inspired me to not only create art, but gave me the confidence to share that art with the world. I often find myself thinking about how different life would be if he was still around.Β

This song is about me looking back on the formative years of my childhood and the positive impact that he had on my life. It’s about thinking you know a lot about how life is going to work out, and that life will always have it’s own twists and turns to throw at you. You just have to roll with the punches and make the best of the hand you’re dealt. I miss ya, buddy.Β

lyrics

I used to run around town on the glamis green spot
I used to play it real cool and you kept it real hot
I used to know what it was all about
Got on my knees and began to shout

Things got a funny way of working out
Things got a funny way of working out

I used to hang around with the bad crowd
My momma told me I had a black cloud
But I had a compassionate eye
And they say good things can never die

Things got a funny way of working out
Things got a funny way of working out

I used to know what it was all about
Got on my knees and began to shout
Things got a funny way of working out
Things got a funny way of working out

We used to dance around in a dark room
And I was sucking up air like a vacuum
Well everything was brighter then
It’ll come back but I don’t know when

Things got a funny way of working out
Things got a funny way of working out

I used to know what it was all about
Got on my knees and began to shout
Things got a funny way of working out
